Staying in Touch

May 13, 2021: State Tech Staying in Touch

Welcome to the Summer 2021 semester!

We hope everyone is ready for a successful Summer semester. Here are some first week reminders!

Important Dates Summer 2021

As you prepare for the Summer 2021 semester, we wanted to make sure you had a list of important dates. Life Hack: If you want to keep these with you all the time, try taking a screen shot on your phone and making it your lock screen wallpaper.

Finding Your Schedule in Eagle Online

Here is a step-by-step guide to finding your Fall schedule online. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to drop us a question at registrar@statetechmo.edu.

  • First, click on the EagleOnline link on the www.statetechmo.edu website.
  • When you click on Eagle Online, enter your user name and password.

  • If you have forgotten your password, please click on the “I forgot my password” link.
  • Then click on “Student Info” and finally click on “My Schedule”.

  • If you’re on your mobile device, try taking a screen shot of your schedule and making it your lock screen the first week of classes.

Paying Your Student Bill

Your Spring charges are on your student account. When you are registered for classes, a bill is created based on the number of credit hours in which you enrolled. Your student accounts information can be viewed by logging into your EagleOnline account and selecting “My Account Balance”.

Tuition is due on the first day of the semester. You can choose to make payments through an interest free payment plan by contacting the Cashier at (573) 897-5126 or e-mail us at billing@statetechmo.edu.

February 8, 2021: State Tech Staying in Touch

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome back for Week 6 of the Spring 2021 semester! We hope everyone had a great weekend. Even though the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl, it was a great season. We have a lot going on campus this week including the Career Expo on Wednesday, February 10, 2021! Please see more detailed information ab out the Career Expo below. Please reach out if you have any questions about anything with classes or activities that are taking place this week. We hope everyone has an amazing week at State Tech.

Ready to Report – Landing Page

We receive many questions each week from students about how to notify someone at the college of an incident they witnessed or a concern they want to share. We want to make reporting your concerns as simple as possible. For your convenience, we have created a Ready to Report landing page where you can find a reporting form for any concerns you would like to report.

State Technical College of Missouri is committed to creating a safe, supportive learning and working environment for all members of the campus community. We take all reports of misconduct seriously to protect everyone’s health and well-being.

State Tech depends on community members to identify and report behaviors of concern so the College can provide students and employees in need with appropriate support services and resources. It takes all of us to create a welcoming campus environment. If you see something, say and do something about it-use the forms on the Ready to Report landing page to help us stay informed on any concerning behavior or students who may be in need of assistance.

The page contains graphics that explain what each form should be used to report. Each form correlates to a process we have at State Tech. We hope by moving to an electronic form, it will be easier for students to find and use.

For example, here is the graphic for the F.A.S.T. form. If you have a concern about a fellow student, you can click on the form, complete it, and when you submit, a person from our team will check in on the person of concern. We hope that you bookmark the Ready to Report landing page on your device so it is easy to access when you need it.

Figure 1 this is the FAST Form. Use it to share a concern about a student who may be struggling with academic, personal, or emotional difficulties or is exhibiting concerning behavior.

Please visit the Ready to Report landing page to see the other reporting forms we have for students.

Early Alert Reports – Importance of Attendance

If you have an illness or an emergency that prevents you from attending, please contact your instructors. When an Early Alert is submitted, our Counseling Staff will reach out to you via text, e-mail, and/or phone. We want to make sure everything is going ok and offer any solutions to issues you may be having outside the classroom. We want to make sure you are aware we can help. Attendance is essential to success, but if you have to miss class, please notify your instructors.

Parking

We get a lot of questions about where to park and want to break it down in a easy to understand way.

If you live on campus:

  • Please park in the lot closest to your cottage and you can walk to your other locations on campus. You will receive a parking sticker that needs to be displayed in your car when it is parked at your dorm.

If you live off campus:

  • You can park anywhere with white lines

  • You cannot park anywhere with yellow lines, these are for off campus visitors only. If you park there and do not have a guest parking pass for the day, you will be issued a ticket.

Tips & Tricks

Tips & Tricks Tuesday - Parking & Parking Lots

Tips & Tricks – June 21, 2021

Good morning!

I wanted to provide an update about things that are happening on campus this summer. We are currently working on projects to repair existing parking lots and create additional parking spaces before the start of the Fall 2021 semester.

Parking Lot Fee

I receive questions about the “Parking Lot Fee” quite frequently from students and their parents. This is a $2 per credit hour fee charged to all students. This fee allows us to conduct maintenance and repairs on our existing parking lots. In addition, it allows us to add parking as enrollment increases.

During the summer of 2019, we added 200 new parking spots to campus. This summer, we will be adding approximately 130 more parking spots to campus.

In addition, we are completing a resealing and restriping project that is coming along very nicely. Please look at these before and after pictures of the resealing project.

If you have any questions about this process (or any question at all), please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail or contact my office at (573) 897-5201. Please remember, we are on summer hours, which means we are in the office Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM to Noon on Fridays.

Parking Reminder – Where Can I Park???

Parking

We get a lot of questions about where to park and want to break it down in a easy to understand way. Here is some information to assist you when classes start in August!

If you live on campus:

  • Please park in the lot closest to your cottage and you can walk to your other locations on campus. You will receive a parking sticker that needs to be displayed in your car when it is parked at your dorm.
  • After 5:00 PM, housing students can park in other areas of campus.

If you live off campus:

  • You can park anywhere with white lines

  • You cannot park anywhere with yellow lines, these are for off campus visitors only. If you park there and do not have a guest parking pass for the day, you will be issued a ticket.

Open Door Policy

We hope you will have a great week. It is normal for students to have many questions. If you have questions or concerns that you would like addressed, please do not hesitate to write me an e-mail (chris.bowser@statetechmo.edu), give me a call (573) 897-5201 (leave a message if I’m not able to answer), or stop by my office in Nilges Technology Center, Room 109.

Online Courses – CANVAS

We hope the Summer semester has gotten off to a positive start for everyone! If you have online classes or assignments to complete in CANVAS, please make sure to log in and get those started. It is definitely easier to jump on those assignments now and work ahead than trying to catch up later in the semester. As you can see below, you can click on the “Canvas Login” link at the top of the State Tech home page. If you have issues accessing your Canvas account, please send an e-mail to helpdesk@statetechmo.edu or give them a call (573) 897-5200.

We hope everyone has a great weekend! Our staff will return to the office after the weekend on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 8:00 AM.

Activity Center Hours

If you are looking for things to do over the weekend, the Activity Center (fitness area, cardio, weights, game room, gaming room) are open on the weekend from 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday. Come in, get in a workout and play some games.

Golf Course – POOL

The Golf Course is open at 7:00 AM all weekend long as well. The Pool officially opens on Saturday, May 15, 2021. It will be very chilly, but as the temperatures rise, please take advantage of the pool at the Osage Country Club.

Questions

Please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail, give me a call at (573) 897-5201, or stop by my office in Nilges 109 if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks and have a great weekend!
