Technical degrees are not a requirement, however, we strongly encourage people to have a degree in their area of interest. Having a technical degree provides students with excellent hands-on training before entering the workforce. This gives students the opportunity to learn more in depth about their program of study and allow them an advantage when applying for jobs and once they have gotten the job. A technical degree also comes with a potential for more competitive pay.
A great way to find out what you would like to do is to come take a tour of campus. This will allow you to experience a closer look at the programs that are offered and what the students in those programs learn in their classrooms and labs. By visiting campus and experiencing the tour, this can help you decide which program you may be interested in.
Yes, you can transfer to a 4-year university after attending State Tech. We do recommend that you make sure your courses will transfer to the college of your choice prior to making any final decisions on where to transfer if you plan to do so.
In addition to the academic grades listed on transcripts, a job readiness work ethic score and an attendance percentage are issued for each class completed as applicable.
A student has until six weeks after the end of the semester during which a class is completed to petition for the final academic grade, job readiness work ethic score, or attendance percentage to be changed. To appeal a final class academic grade, job readiness work ethic score, or attendance percentage, complete an Final Grade Appeal. The Final Grade Appeal can be found at the footer of the State Tech website under the Ready to Report link.
