Industry Experience:

I have been a RN for 33 years with the majority of my career spent in Women's Health, and Obstetrical nursing. Other work experiences I’ve had over the past 33 years was intensive care & progressive care nursing, internal medicine clinic nursing, but my true passion has always been obstetrical nursing. St. Mary’s Hospital employed me for 28 + years with the majority of my career on the Obstetrical Unit as a staff RN, as well as teaching Childbirth Education Classes. I also worked at Women's Clinic of Jefferson City for 8 years assisting with two different obstetricians in managing their prenatal clients while still working as a staff nurse and teaching nursing for Lincoln University’s AAS Nursing program. As a nursing instructor at LU for 8 years, I taught Maternal Child Nursing and Nursing Care of Adults III, which is a medical surgical nursing course. During my time at LU, I became the Simulation Lab Coordinator and worked to get LU's simulation lab up and running. I served on LU’s Nursing Science Curriculum Committee and Lab committee. Five years ago, I resigned my positions on OB and at LU to become a Staff Nurse Educator for SSM Health Education Department. In that role I helped create and teach the staff nurse orientation program; developed the Graduate Nurse Program for St. Mary’s Hospital; and then assisted in the development of the SSM Graduate Nurse Residency Program, which is a SSM system wide residency program. I also was in charge of Perinatal Education for SSM Health’s Mid MO Region. I earned my BSN from University of MO-Columbia and my MSN Nurse Educator Degree from University of Central MO. I am certified as an ACLS & BLS Instructor. I currently am teaching Fundamentals of Nursing I and II; Pharmacology; Maternal Child Nursing and am one of clinical instructors for Level I, II, and III clinical as well as help with the development and implementation of simulation to assist in the practice realm of nursing case scenarios.
