A+ Scholarship

• Be a United States citizen or permanent resident
• Request Official High School Transcripts with the A+ Stamp to be sent to State Tech
• Complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov with State Tech’s School Code 004711
• Be seeking a certificate or degree at State Tech
• Enroll full-time (12 or more credit hours in the fall and-or spring; 6 or more credit hours in the summer)

A+ Scholarship Information

• Tuition (Technical Tuition and GenEd Tuition)
• Standard Fees (Parking, Program Lab, SGA Project and Recreation, Activity, and Government Fees)
• A+ will only pay for one degree

A+ Scholarship Information

• Program Specific Fees (Tech Assessment, Tier, Commencement, and Drug Screening)
• Supplies (books – textbooks or Inclusive Access Codes, tools, laptops, etc.)
• Repeated Courses
• Dropped Courses (after drop date deadline)
• Courses NOT needed for degree

• 48 months from high school graduation
• Upon receipt of an Associate’s degree
• Completion of 105% of credit hours required for the program in which you are seeking your degree

The 105% calculation will not include credit hours earned before high school graduation (dual credit)

105% Example: If an associate degree requires 70 credit hours, then 105% of 70 = 74 credit hours. Therefore, once the student completes 74 credit hours, they will no longer be eligible for A+ funding.

• Eligibility is reviewed at the end of each semester.
• To maintain A+
  • Complete 12 or more credit hours in the Fall or Spring semesters, 6 in the summer
  • Must maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average each semester

• 2026-2027 FAFSA covers: Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027
• 2027-2028 FAFSA covers: Fall 2027, Spring 2028, and Summer 2028

• Dropping a class
  • If you are dropping a class but will still be completing 12 or more credit hours in the semester, A+ will be reduced by the cost of that class your next semester of A+ eligibility
  • If you are dropping a class and are no longer considered a full-time student, A+ will pay for the current semester tuition and standard fees, however, you will lose your A+ eligibility for the next semester
• Can I regain A+ eligibility?
  • Yes, if you meet A+ requirements by completing at least 12 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or more and have not reached 105% completion of program credit hours
• Repeating a class
  • A+ will not pay for a class it has previously paid for.
  • If A+ has previously paid for a class in which the student failed, or dropped after the 100% refund date, and needs to be retaken in order to meet program requirements, the student will be responsible for paying the cost of the class

• Check your financial aid portal and your student email to see if the Financial Aid Office is missing one or more of the following items:
  • High School Transcript with the A+ stamp
  • Signed State Tech A+ Agreement
  • Completed FAFSA for current school year
  • Required Verification forms

• A student may transfer from another college or university and use the A+ Scholarship contingent upon the following:
  • Official transcripts from previously attended colleges are sent to State Tech
  • Meets all other A+ Scholarship Program Requirements

• Yes, if you meet one of the following exceptions:
  • You are in your last semester and applied for graduation with the
    Registrar’s Office
  • You are enrolled in all available required courses
  • You are an incoming freshman with enough dual credit hours completed in high school to be considered full-time

• A+ requires any Pell Grant funds to be applied to standard fees and tuition first, before A+ pays. The A+ amount in the Financial Aid Offer is subject to change upon Pell Grant funds awarded and the number of credit hours in which the student is enrolled. If you have enough Pell Grant funds to cover all tuition and standard fees, this will result in a zero award from A+.
