Aaron J. Kliethermes has received the Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher award from the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).

Kliethermes is the department chair and instructor for the Design Drafting Technology program at State Technical College of Missouri.  Additionally, he serves as advisor to the college’s SkillsUSA team and the Home Builders Association Student Chapter.

Kliethermes earned the award by exemplifying excellence in teaching. His creative approach to developing technical certifications ensures that State Tech prepares graduates who readily fulfill the needs of their industry partners.

“Aaron is certainly an asset to State Tech and our students”, said Associate Dean of Instruction, Janet Clanton.  “He is a highly effective, dedicated, creative and energetic instructor.”

As the advisor of the college’s HBA Student Chapter, Kliethermes has successfully prepared two teams for the National Residential Construction Management Competition.  The first year the team received the Rookie of the Year award and in the previous year the team received a 3rd rank from 3 of 4 judges.

Kliethermes began working for State Tech in 2007. He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  He graduates in December 2013 with a 4.0 GPA.  His educational background and industry experience further enhance his approach to teaching.

The ACTE awards promote excellence within programs at career and technical schools.  ACTE presents 10 awards annually to those educators who are considered exceptional in the industry.

State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only state technical college. Hands-on technical courses balanced with a strong foundation in communication, problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking prepare graduates for profitable employment and a life of learning

On July 1, 2014, State Technical College of Missouri’s name will change to the State Technical College of Missouri.  This name change better reflects our statewide role in technical education.
