State Tech hosts juniors, awards $1,000 tuition waiver
State Technical College of Missouri hosted 59 high school students in addition to family members from Missouri and Illinois at the 2012 STC Junior Preview Day on March 9. The day was dedicated to showcasing the technical programs, facilities and resources available to students at State Tech.
The goal of the preview day was to expose high students to the programs and opportunities State Tech has to offer. During their visit, students were provided a campus-wide tour and an opportunity to visit with admissions, counseling, financial aid and on campus housing representatives.
“Visiting campus is an important step in the college search process,” commented Kathy Scheulen, Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management. “We were thrilled to provide this opportunity to prospective students.”
The event concluded with lunch, door prizes and a viewing of the college’s 50th anniversary video.
Door prizes were awarded to students including a $1,000 tuition waiver to attend State Technical College of Missouri. The waiver, which is only applicable for first-time college students, was awarded to Kyle Koch, Houston, MO. Kyle is a junior at Houston High School and interested in the Heavy Equipment Operations program at State Tech.
With more than 35 academic programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission to prepare students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
