Kliethermes named SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year

Aaron Kliethermes, Design Drafting Technology instructor and chair at State Technical College of Missouri, was recently named the 2011 Missouri SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year.

Kliethermes received the award in recognition of his hard work and dedication serving as the SkillsUSA advisor at State Tech and as the senior advisor for the SkillsUSA Central District.

In his role as the SkillsUSA Advisor for the State Tech SkillsUSA chapter, Kliethermes has been able to increase the chapter funds through various fundraisers and has also increased the chapter membership in the few short years he has served as the chapter advisor.

At the district level, Kliethermes was instrumental in transferring all written technical tests to an online format allowing all chapters throughout the state of Missouri the ability to access the tests online.   Kliethermes stated this has been a green initiative for the Missouri SkillsUSA Association.

Kliethermes also planned the District Fall Leadership Conference for the Missouri SkillsUSA Central District.   Being the largest conference in the districts history, it was a proud accomplishment for Kliethermes.

“We appreciate everything Aaron does for SkillsUSA,” said Vicki Schwinke, State Tech dean of academic and student affairs.  “He’s done a great job and this award reflects his accomplishments.”

In addition to the SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year Award, Kliethermes also received the 2011 Missouri SkillsUSA College/Postsecondary Division Advisor of the Year Award and the Senior Advisor for the Central District.

Kliethermes, a 2005 graduate of the Design Drafting Technology at State Tech, has long history with SkillsUSA.   Starting in high school, Kliethermes was active in SkillsUSA at the Eldon Career Center and then in college when he attended State Tech.

With more than 35 programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission.   STC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.  STC has three locations in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City.
