State Tech and UCM sign articulation agreement

On Monday, the presidents of State Technical College of Missouri (STC) and the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg signed a formal agreement to ensure qualified STC students can continue their educational goals with a smooth transition.

Under the terms of the new articulation agreement, students who successfully complete a two-year associate of applied science degree in Construction & Civil Technology (CCT) program or Aviation Maintenance (TAM) at STC can effortlessly transfer to UCM to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

According to STC President Donald Claycomb, the agreement fits well with STC’s mission to prepare students for profitable employment and a life of learning.  “More and more students want to earn a baccalaureate degree in order to advance in their professions,” said Claycomb.  “Agreements such as this ensure that happens seamlessly.”

UCM President Charles Ambrose stated that he considers the agreement to be more of a partnership.  “I consider the partnership UCM is forming with State Tech to make a difference in our region, our state and worldwide,” Ambrose said.  “Our partnership gives a portal for students to further their education and put students in a place to be successful in the workforce,” said Charles Ambrose, UCM president.

A number of representatives from both institutions were on hand for the signing ceremony conducted by Claycomb and Ambrose.  This is the second articulation agreement that has been signed this year between STC and UCM.  Earlier this year, the two higher education institutions signed an articulation agreement allowing students completing a two-year associate’s degree in design drafting technology to also transfer to a baccalaureate program at UCM.

With more than 35 programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission.   STC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.  STC has three locations in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City.
