State Tech to host state archery tournament
State Technical College of Missouri will welcome over 960 students in grades 4-12 from 63 schools across Missouri to compete in the Third Annual Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP) State Tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 25-26.
Archers will compete on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Trophies are awarded to each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in elementary, middle school and high school, along with trophies and medals to 1st through 5th place individual boys and girls in each division.
MoNASP teams with qualifying scores from the state tournament will participate in the NASP National Tournament May 13-14, 2011 in Louisville, KY.
MoNASP supports international-style target archery in 4-12 grade physical education classes. Statistics show school archery programs improve school attendance, increase self-esteem, as well as physical activity, and encourage kids to get outdoors.
With more than 35 programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. STC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning. STC has three locations in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City.
