Manufacturer Haas Automation opens showroom at State Tech
State Technical College of Missouri hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Haas Technical Education Center (HTEC) Showroom on Friday, November 19.
The showroom which is a part of State Tech’s Machine Tool Technology program is one of only three such showrooms in Missouri. The new center is the result of a partnership between State Tech and Haas Automation, an industry leader in CNC machinery manufacturing.
“Our company prides itself in the partnerships we have with schools,” said Brian Cregg, Vice President of Haas Factory Outlet. “State Technical College of Missouri is no exception. The college has something to be proud of here.”
The HTEC allows State Tech machine tool technology students the opportunity to learn on state-of-the-art equipment being used in the workplace.
According to State Tech President Dr. Donald Claycomb, the private-public sector partnership has a potential to be very beneficial to both sectors. “Partnering with Haas Automation is making the machine tool program at State Tech more effective in preparing students and more appealing to prospective students,” said Claycomb.
“The hope is that students trained on Haas equipment will want to work on Haas equipment when they are out in the industry,” said Kevin Piedimonte, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Basically we are training students to buy Haas.”
“The HTEC showroom certainly increases our presence in the area,” said Piedimonte. “I can bring prospective customers to the showroom here at State Tech and they can see students working on the machines firsthand.”
The showroom includes entrusted equipment from Haas with an estimated value of $380,000 to State Tech. In addition to the entrusted equipment, State Tech has another $410,000 invested in Haas Automation CNC equipment.
With more than 35 programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. STC has campuses in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City. STC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
