State Tech student wins at national SkillsUSA championship
Freeman Fitzgerald of De Soto, Missouri brought home a bronze medal from the National SkillsUSA Championships held June 21-25 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Fitzgerald, a recent graduate of the Powersports Technology program, participated in the Motorcycle Service Technology competition.
“Freeman showed pride in his education that he received at State Tech with his bronze medal win,” said Aaron Kliethermes, SkillsUSA Student Chapter Advisor.
Fitzgerald, along with thirteen of his fellow State Technical College of Missouri classmates, competed in the championships. In addition to Fitzgerald’s win, Networking Systems student, Chris Hillen of Linn, Missouri placed fifth in Internetworking and Electronics Engineering student, Matthew Wieberg of Martinsburg, Missouri placed sixth in Electronics Technology.
During the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, industry leaders representing over a thousand businesses, corporations, trade associations and unions recognized students from all around the country for their demonstrated excellence in more than 90 hands-on occupational and leadership contests.
With more than 35 programs, State Technical College of Missouri is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. STC has campuses in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City. STC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
